T-Pain is readying a new album full of covers set to arrive next month and he’s pushing his signature AutoTuned vocals to the side to showcase his natural singing voice. The Florida native announced a seven-song project fittingly titled ‘On Top of the Covers’ which drops on March 17. T-Pain looks to surprise fans with a versatile array of covers ranging from Sam Cooke, Sam Smith and Journey to Chris Stapleton and Black Sabbath. He’s also inviting his Nappy Boy label signee NandoSTL to duet with him on a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life.” “This covers album has been years in the making. I started recording this right after I won The Masked Singer,” he told Rolling Stone. “It got put on hold for a bit but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment, and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time.”
