Khalid Plans to Share Music Education with Kids in Underserved Communities

It's the end of a decade, and Khalid is leaving negativity behind. Khalid sat down with us in the Mercedes Benz Interview Lounge at Power 96.1's Jingle Ball and we got to pick his brain before his performance

This past decade, the world got to know who Khalid is, and it was such an awesome journey. We love his music just as much as he loves creating it, and his passion for sharing his love of music with kids is super inspiring. Moving forward, he wants to venture out into education and give back to his community.

"I definitely want to venture out into education. I want to open a school sometime in the next decade, and just give back to kids. Because, I mean, I wish I had those experiences when I was growing up. But, I mean, I wasn't necessarily in the financial position to be able to chase my dreams and learn all these new instruments, so I just want to give back underserved communities and give them opportunities to excel in their creativity."

If Khalid went back to college, he would love to learn about Psychology and Education. He always wanted to be a Teacher, so he's using 2020 and the entire next decade as an opportunity to work with kids and give back to local communities through music and education.

For Christmas, he's treating himself to a new best friend, a Doberman! He already has a Maltese, Maui, but needs a feline friend to protect his home while he's out crushing the main stage.

All-in-all, 2020 for Khalid will entail new music, more collaborations (wish list: Alec Benjamin, SZA, Kehlani, and Lucky Day) and lots more live performances.
