Four people were killed and at least 14 others were injured, including at least three in critical condition, during a drive-by mass shooting in Chicago's River North neighborhood late Wednesday (July 2) night, the Associated Press reports.
The incident reportedly took place outside a restaurant and lounge that hosted a rapper's album release party, several media outlets reported. An unknown suspect opened fire into a crowd standing outside the building and the vehicle immediately fled the scene, according to police.
“Traumatizing. I’m just shook,” one female witness told WGN TV.
No arrests have been made in relation to the incident, police confirmed. The victims shot included 13 women and five men ranging between the ages of 21 to 32, with two men and two women being killed during the incident.
Nine of the victims, including the two women killed during the incident, were taken to Northwestern Hospital while five, including the two men killed, were taken to John H. Stroger Hospital.
Pastor Donovan Price, who was present at the scene, described the situation as "absolute chaos" to WGN TV.
“From people screaming, to blood on the streets, to people laying on the streets,” he said. “Just a massive police presence.
“Just horrific. More than I’ve ever seen.”
