Lil Wayne faced plenty of criticism after he took the stage during "Saturday Night Live's" 50th-anniversary celebration, but his daughter Reginae Carter wasn't here for the slander.
The Young Money co-founder hit the stage on Sunday night, February 16, to perform at the "SNL 50 Anniversary Special" at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Weezy teamed up with The Roots to perform a live medley of his hits including "Uproar," "Lollipop," "6 Foot 7 Foot," "Mrs. Officer" and "A Milli." Wayne delivered his set flawlessly, but some fans tried to compare the performance to Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl set. Reginae shut down all that chatter on social media.
"Yall are some d riders !" she wrote in the comment section of The Shade Room. "My dad been having fun performing for years! He is truly himself when he hit the stage. Go play with yall mf kids.. he collected a check after this.. what yall get for hating? Not a damn thing!"
Fans were critical of Wayne's performance after the NFL and Roc Nation selected Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans over Lil Wayne. The Hollygrove native initially said he was "hurt" after Lamar was chosen. However, he spoke to the "Not Like Us" rapper and ultimately gave him his blessing. People pointed to Wayne's SNL performance as proof that he couldn't deliver a set that matched Lamar's.
"This SNL performance proves that Lil Wayne shouldn't ever do a Super Bowl," one person wrote on X.
