Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP" is one of the most iconic songs to come out of 2020, and came with an equally legendary music video featuring some famous faces. Along with a brief appearance by Kylie Jenner, artists including Mulatto, Rubi Rose, Sukihana and Normani also busted out some sultry dance moves for their own cameos.
In a new (also NSFW) behind-the-scenes music video, Cardi is seen watching Normani do her thing in front of the green screen, while the rapper is off to the side capturing it all on video, kind of like a proud stage mom, as she kept singing "Motivation" — a nod to the singer's hit single of the same name. It will warm your soul.
Afterwards, the two shared a conversation as Cardi thanked Normani for being in the video, and explained she's been waiting to release the song for so long. She told Normani, "This record, I had it for like, nine months already. It's like, I had this record for so long ... this is THE song ... it's like, the perfect song."
Part One of the behind-the-scenes video also shows how the "WAP" music video came together, safely (with the crew wearing masks), in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. From dance rehearsals, to building out the sets, to how Cardi and Megan pulled off the music video's snake scene and so much more.
The footage Cardi is seen taking in the BTS video is likely the video she posted to her Instagram back in August. She shared along with the short clip, "It’s the way she ate that for me @normani.....I can’t wait till Normani put her project out. She been working for a long time and I CANT wait till she show ya. She gonna wake ya up."
